She died in Bressler (then New Benton) on February 28, 1897, leaving William Rhen a widower, with 3 children at home:
Harry C. Rhen, 21, who was a laborer at the Iron Works
Blanche C(ardella) Rhen, 20
Cleveland Mc. Rhen, 14, who was in school
They lived next to Margurite's daughter from her 1st marriage, Effie Elizabeth Rebecca Kate Frank, who had married Levi Ellsworth Frantz, son of Emanuel Frantz and Arvilla Laughman Frantz. Emanuel Frantz was a Fireman at the Iron Works.
Levi Frantz was a laborer at the Stone Quarry, as was William Rhen.
The 1900 census shows Effie, Levi, and their 1-year-old son Vincent living with Levi's parents. His brothers Elmer (age 20) & John (age 17) and his sister Lillie (age 14) were also at home. Elmer and John Frantz worked at the Iron Works.
